This polished Lapis Lazuli block from Badakhshan, Afghanistan has a broad face, 19.0 cm by 14.2 cm, about 7.5 × 5.6 inches. That’s a little larger than a standard 5 × 7 inch photo print. It’s 4.4 cm (1.7 in) thick and weighs 2.3 kg, about 5 lb, and it stands upright on its own.

What you see on the face
