This polished Lapis Lazuli block from Badakhshan, Afghanistan weighs 517 grams. Its main face is almost square at 11.2 cm by 9.5 cm, and it is 3.1 cm thick. That’s a broad, wide block with some depth, not a thin slice. The fine-grained lazurite is deep royal blue, polished smooth.

Gold across the blue
