Etched Black Tourmaline (Schorl) with Albite – Pakistan

This 255g specimen showcases a fascinating geological phenomenon: the natural etching of a Black Tourmaline crystal. Rather than the typical smooth, striated faces, the surface of this Schorl has been naturally dissolved and sculpted by hydrothermal fluids within its growth pocket. This process has left behind an intricate, 3D network of geometric pits and "craters" that give the jet-black crystal a frosted, almost otherworldly texture.

The dark, metallic luster of the Tourmaline stands in stark contrast to the bright, snowy-white Albite matrix upon which it sits. The Albite provides a clean, neutral background that makes the complex architecture of the etched Schorl truly stand out. At over 6.5 cm in height and width, this is a heavy, substantial cabinet piece that feels as significant in the hand as it looks on the shelf.
